Meet Stephanie
Stephanie’s father is dying and she can’t cope with it. He was the most dominant figure in her life growing up. She thinks the stress and grief and confusion of feelings are why she’s feeling the way she is: as if she’s stepped outside herself. It’s like the things happening to her are happening to someone else. She’s at work and it seems to be some other person talking and listening, someone who has cleverly figured out how to fit in. She can’t control this imposter. She’s afraid of what she might say or do. She even had this experience on a date, acting in ways she would never behave, doing things she would never do. She suddenly forgets how to do tasks she’s done a thousand times before. She shows up at places without remembering how she got there. She’s having trouble sleeping, and recently she swears she has heard the voice of a little girl, whispering to her out of the dark. The little girl hiding in the closet, and she’s afraid. Afraid of the man who comes at night and hurts her. Stephanie thinks she might be losing it. But that makes sense to her too. Isn’t this simply a way of dealing with the loss of the most important person in her life? Through the use of cinematic appraoches, like reenactments and flashbacks, this video shines a light on Stephanie's struggles and the realities of her condition. Viewers see the world through her eyes and through the eyes of those around her.
